Keith Urban Concert

Happy Birthday Geoff!!
Geoff's birthday was in July, but I surprised him with tickets to the Keith Urban concert August 22!! We both love Keith Urban and I thought it would be a fun little get-away for us after our wedding.

The concert was in Lousiville at the Freedom Hall arena. It was a perfect venue for a concert because it is relatively small compared to most arenas and so the event was very intimate and everyone had great seats!! We had SO much fun :)

The evening began with Pat Green. We were both very impressed with his show. He did a very good job and got the show started on the right track to introduce Keith!!

(FYI... these pictures are not very good. #1 they had the stage constantly filled with smoke #2 my battery was dead, dead and so my camera was way acting up!! :/ )

KEITH URBAN

He played for a little over 2 hours and hit almost all of his top songs!! The crowd was dancing and singing along the entire show. It was incredible!!

This was unbelievable. Keith Urban would be strumming along and singing to a song and the next thing you know he was walking through the crowd. It was crazy!! They had a very small stages set up for him throughout the crowd that he would go to and sing a few songs on. This particular stage was right in front of us!! Eveyone had amazing seats in the arena.

This particular picture was when he was singing our song... "Making Memories of Us" :)

During "Kiss A Girl" Keith Urban had a little 8-year boy from the crowd, literally, come up and play with him. The little boy had been holding a sign saying "I WANT TO PLAY KISS A GIRL WITH YOU" and he had brought his guitar with him to the concert. Keith Urban saw the sign and his guitar and said why not?! The little boy was so cute!! He was strumming along and singing with KEITH URBAN the entire time but it did not seem to phase him. When the song was done they placed him back in the crowd but Keith brought him back up because he didn't even get his name!! It was funny :)

The concert was so good!! It was the best concert I have been too. Keith Urban did such a wonderful job and you could just tell that he loved what he was doing and was genuinely grateful for each of us coming out that night. It was a perfect get-away for us in our busy past few weeks/months and also to get away from our messy apartment (read below!).

The Flood

Friday, August 21st (we've been married for two weeks!!)

5:35 p.m.
Our washer and dryer are delivered! I very much dispise doing laundry but was so excited to see our washer and dryer because we had so laundry to do and was running out of clothes! We started a did a couple of loads that evening and put a load in the washer as we were heading to bed.

12:20 a.m.
"POUND, POUND, SLAM, POUND... This is the fire and police, open the door!!!" Image waking up to this in the middle of the night. This is what Geoff and I woke up to! After being completely startled, we both jumped out of bed to find our feet in a lake of water surrounding our bed. Geoff quickly ran to our front door, while I tried to wake up and not totally freak out. Geoff jumbled the lock and to try and open our door but the fire department had pounded our door so hard to wake us up that they had jammed it. So, the next thing Geoff heard was, "Sir, stand back." He did and then saw our front door pumbled through and the fire and police department pushing through to enter our apartment.

12:30 a.m.
Now, finally with the fire and police department in our apartment and all lights on we discovered that this thing below was the culprit of our flooded apartment...
Yes, our new washer that was delivered less than 12 hours before had somehow not recognized when to begin cycling, and therefore had been running water for over an hour and a half!!

12:45
With the help of the fire and police departments we were able to contact our maintenance crew and report the incident. Their is a 24 hour emergency service but it is not immediate, so we had to wait 30 minutes for the guy to arrive.

12:50
We were standing around with the departments wondering what we could do to fix the problem as soon as possible (I am in total panic mode), when one of the firemen saw our SHAMWOW's. He laughed as he stated, "I wonder how much the SHAMWOW's would soak up?" We all kind of chuckled but then decided to try and put them to the test.

The SHAMWOW's were unbelievable! They did not do too much to our carpeted areas because the water was soaked in too much. But in our tiled areas, such as the bathrooms, the SHAMWOW's were able to soak up all the water and complete dry these areas. It was amazing!
Here's a video of Geoff drying out our bathroom. Sorry it's sideways... don't know how to fix it?! Just turn your head for a second.

Here are a few other pictures as we were cleaning up the mess (most of the pictures were taken for our insurance company... not for my blog - haha).

(Geoff's flip-flop is floating...)

1:30
The apartment maintenance man arrived to our apartment to inspect the situation. It was bad...! He then called a water extracting company to come as soon as possible - which would be another 45 minutes...

2:15 a.m.
By this time, it's been a long night for Geoff and I. Finally the water extracter arrives. He brings a very large hose and vaccum up to our third floor apartment and begins to suck the water out of our floor. As you can only image this process was not the quietest. This large hose in our apartment was hooked to a truck outside with a loud machine pumping the water. Everyone in our apartment building and the surrounding had to have heard!! I felt so bad that I baked cookies for our neighbors the next day.
3:30
After the water was extracted, 8 large industrial fans and the biggest de-humidifier I have ever seen were placed all over our apartment to completely dry our floors.
It took 60 hours for our apartment to be completely dry from the fans. As you can image they are not very quiet, so Geoff and I had to sleep on our livingroom floor for 3 nights because our bedroom was the worst room and had the most fans.

**Our enemy for the weekend!

Welcome to marriage!!

First, Geoff and I are very grateful that no one was hurt from the situation and we did not have any damages. Though I would never wish the experience on any other person, I am thankful for the sitaution and that Geoff and I were able to work through it together and were able to grow in our marriage. We definitely learned a lot of lessons from the experience and hopefully will not make the same mistakes! Marriage is fun, even in the tough times!! I am thankful I have Geoff to experience them with and for his calm, relax temperament during situations like this and that he is able to even find humor in them!!

We made it through!

Honeymoon

After months and months of planning and preparing for our wedding we were exhausted! No one ever said planning a wedding was easy and doing it in 5 months is ever harder! We were so thankful then for our week-long trip to a wonderful little Inn in Vermont. Geoff's gracious grandparents Priests organized our little get-a-way and we could not have asked for anything more!

We stayed at the Pitcher Inn in Warren, Vermont. The Inn was located in a quaint, little village in the valley of mountains and had lots of things for us to do. We went on many hikes and picnic lunches, kayacked down one of the mountains one day, visited the birthplace of Joseph Smith, toured the Ben & Jerry's factory, went swimming in various 'swim holes' along the side of the road, and ate lots of yummy, delicious food!!
Although we ventured out from our Inn quite a bit, we could have stayed there the whole time. The service was magnificent!! We received first-class service. Geoff and I both had never stayed at an Inn so it was a different experience for both of us. Because there were only a few rooms (11) versus hundreds at a resort, the staff new us by name and provided us with anything we needed. Each time we left our room they cleaned it and left us truffles (the best part!). The made all our day arrangements and excursions and gave us the necessary items for packed lunches and such when needed. It was a very care-free vacation, perfect for our honeymoon!! We would recommend the Inn for everyone and can't wait to go back for our anniversary!!

I think Geoff's favorite part of the trip was the food!! He would jump out of bed every morning and pace the room until I was ready so we could leave for breakfast (haha - a little exaggeration). Every morning they had various hot entrees for us to choose from and homemade scones and muffins made with a different berry each day (blueberry, cranberry, raspberry, maple & walnut). We also were spoiled with fresh-squeezed orange juice with our meal!! Life couldn't have gotten any better :)

One of my favorite parts of the trip was our Ben & Jerry factory tour. This was for sure because we got FREE samples of ice cream!! Yum, Yum!
The trip was amazing!! We couldn't have asked for anything more. We are so thankful for grandparents Priests and their generous accommodations. We loved our trip!! It was so wonderful to spend the week together, away and a great start to our marriage!!
THANK YOU!!!

Our Wedding Day

August 7, 2009

... was the day Geoff and I were married and sealed together for time and all eternity in the Columbus, Ohio temple. We could not have asked for a more perfect day to spend with all of our family and friends love and support felt all around us. We recognize that we are very blessed and are so grateful for all of our blessings. We are thankful for all the love and support people have given to us, to all of those that helped to make our day special, and for the wonderful opportunity to be married in the Lord's house. We love the temple very much and are grateful for the knowledge we have that our marriage can last through the eternites. We are truly blessed.

Our time in the temple together that day was so wonderful. We felt a wonderful spirit and are grateful for the sealing blessing we were given there that day.

It was the most gorgeous day! We were so lucky to have great weather, no rain, and it was not too, too hot. It was so wonderful to be able to walk around the temple together and with our families and be able to take beautiful pictures with them that we can remember and keep forever.

This is one of my favorite pictures :) Geoff and I are with his niece and nephew, Emma and Trent, after our sealing. They were so cute and excited to see us come out. We both are very blessed to have such wonderful families.

Our photographer for the day was awesome!! He constantly was snapping pictures and setting up creative pictures for us to take. Here's just a sample of our pictures... I will post a website link of them when I get the link - look for more soon!!

This picture is just too funny!! Geoff is putting the ball with his bride's assistance and our bridal party anxiously waiting to see if he makes it or not. We all had so much taking pictures on the course (aka - Geoff's 2nd home)!

We could not have asked for anything more on our wedding day. It was such a fun day! It was perfect!! We had wonderful weather, all of our family and friends surrounding us, and were able to partake in the greatest ordinance here on earth - married and sealed together for time and all eternity. It could not have been any better. We are so grateful for all of our blessings and for all that attended our the temple with us and reception on our wedding day. We love each and every one of you!!
